Who this is for

Three kinds of business we work with.

Owner-managers, employers building a benefits package, and employers who want their people less worried about money. Often the same business, at different moments.

You own the business, and most of your wealth is in it

The business has started to do well, and now the questions are about you: your family, your own retirement, what a sale would really mean at home. Eolas Business is a plan for you and your family, funded by the business, run by Jim as one engagement.

Common questions

The things employers ask before a first call.

Short answers to the questions that come up most with owners and employers. Each service page goes deeper, and the discovery call is the place for your specifics.

As an employer, do I have to provide a pension for my staff?

Since 1 January 2026, Ireland's auto-enrolment system - “My Future Fund” - automatically enrols employees aged 23 to 60 who earn over €20,000 and aren't already in a workplace pension through payroll. Contributions started at 1.5% from the employee, matched by 1.5% from the employer plus 0.5% from the State (on earnings up to €80,000), and rise on a set schedule to 6% each by 2035. For many employers a well-designed workplace scheme is still a better outcome for staff than the default - and it satisfies the obligation. We'll talk you through where your business stands and which route fits.

Is a company pension contribution tax-efficient for the business?

Generally, yes. Employer pension contributions are normally treated as an allowable business expense, and - unlike salary - they don't attract employer PRSI, which makes them an efficient way to reward and retain people. The exact treatment depends on your company's circumstances, so we set out the structure clearly and work alongside your accountant to confirm the position. We keep contribution and allowance figures high-level here and verify the current detail with you directly.

What is key-person cover and who needs it?

Key-person cover is a life assurance policy - often with a serious-illness option - that a company takes out on an individual whose death or critical illness would seriously damage the business. It suits owner-managed and SME businesses where a small number of people carry a large share of the revenue, technical knowledge or client relationships. If you can name someone the business genuinely couldn't easily absorb losing, that's usually a sign it's worth a conversation.

Is financial wellbeing only for employers?

No. The same framework guides how we work with individuals and families through Eolas Essentials, Select and Complete. For employers, we package it as a structured programme of seminars, webinars, one-to-one clinics and e-learning for your team. Both are delivered by qualified, independent Eolas Money planners in plain English.

Are you tied to any pension provider or insurer?

No. Eolas Money is independent and fee-based. We aren't owned by, or tied to, any pension, investment or insurance company, so our advice is about the structure and provider that fit your business and your staff - not about selling a particular product. Every fee is disclosed in writing before you commit to anything.
