What you'll walk away with

By the end of the course, you'll be able to actually do these things.

Not "feel more confident about money" in some vague sense. Specific, named, household-level decisions you can make on your own - and the working knowledge to ask sharper questions of anyone advising you.

  • Read your own financial picture with clarity - income, outgoings, debts, savings
  • Build a budget that survives real life, not a spreadsheet fantasy
  • Decide how much pension is enough, and how much you can afford today
  • Recognise - and price - the real "what ifs": illness, redundancy, death
  • Tell the difference between saving, investing, and speculating
  • Plan for the older-age decisions that quietly arrive in your fifties
The curriculum

Eight modules. One arc.

The modules build on each other deliberately - from the foundations of a financial plan through to the harder decisions of older age. Each is short enough to fit into a lunch break, with a quiz at the end so the concepts actually land.

  1. 01

    Financial planning foundations

What a financial plan actually is, why it matters, and how the pieces fit together. The mental model the rest of the course hangs on.

    28 min QuizWorksheet
  2. 02

    Budgeting that survives real life

Track what's actually happening, set a realistic spending plan, and rebuild it when life moves. Includes the Eolas spending plan template.

    32 min QuizTemplate
  3. 03

    Goal setting & saving smart

Short-, medium- and long-term goals - and the saving strategy that fits each. Sinking funds, emergency funds, where each pound goes.

    26 min QuizWorksheet
  4. 04

    Managing down debt

Good debt, bad debt, and the order to clear it in. Mortgage overpayments, credit card spirals, and when to refinance.

    24 min Quiz
  5. 05

    Tax - the headline numbers

PAYE, USC, PRSI, marginal rates, tax credits, AVCs. Enough working knowledge to ask better questions of your payroll and your accountant.

    30 min QuizReference sheet
  6. 06

    Savings & investments

The difference between saving and investing, how risk and time horizon interact, and the structures available to Irish households.

    34 min QuizWorksheet
  7. 07

    Protecting against the "what ifs"

Life cover, income protection, specified illness, mortgage protection. What each one actually does - and what it costs to be without it.

    28 min Quiz
  8. 08

Retirement & planning for older age

Pensions, ARFs, the State pension, and the harder questions about what "enough" looks like in retirement. Fair Deal scheme primer included.

Why financial wellbeing matters

It changes more than money.

For you, personally

Money worry is one of the most reliable predictors of poor sleep, strained relationships, and lower physical health. Financial wellbeing isn't about being wealthy - it's about feeling in control of what you have, and confident about what's coming.

For your team

Financial stress quietly hollows out productivity, engagement, and retention. A practical financial wellbeing programme isn't a perk - it's one of the highest-leverage things an employer can offer. Your people will thank you for it once, and the business will thank you for it for years.
