Eolas Select · One to three things

When you need one or two things solved properly.

A scoped piece of work with Brendan on the one, two or three elements of your finances that need real attention now: a redundancy decision, an inheritance, pensions to consolidate, a mortgage to re-broke. Not everything, just those. Scoped, priced and timeboxed before we start.

What you get back

One decision, properly thought through.

A second opinion you can act on

On the single financial decision that's been keeping you up at night, from someone who isn't selling you anything and has seen it before.

Numbers, not brochure claims

Modelling that shows what each option actually costs and produces, so the choice is made on the figures rather than folklore.

A written recommendation

Something you can take to your solicitor, accountant or partner and act on with confidence. The project ends when the work does.

Typical Select projects

Six conversations that often start with the phrase "what do I do about…"

Select is shaped to the question in front of you. These are the most common starting points - but the scope follows your situation, not a fixed template.

Redundancy package decisions

Statutory vs ex-gratia, tax-free thresholds, the SCSB calculation, pension vs cash, and how to make the cheque last - modelled against your real financial position.

Inheritance & gift planning

CAT thresholds (Group A, B, C), Revenue-approved insurance to fund the bill, gifting strategies - coordinated with your solicitor and accountant.

Mortgage re-broking or new applications

Independent whole-of-market comparison, fixed vs variable, term decisions, switching mechanics - without the bank-tied bias.

Pension consolidation & review

Multiple pots from previous employers brought into one, with a clear view of charges, risk profile and projected outcomes against your retirement goal.

Investment portfolio second-opinion

Whether what you hold is right for your time horizon, risk tolerance and tax situation - and whether the charges are reasonable for what you're getting.

Older-age & Fair Deal planning

Long-term care cost modelling, Fair Deal mechanics, asset structuring, and conversations to have with siblings before things become urgent.

  1. 01

    Discovery call

    30 min · free

We listen first. Tell us what's on your mind - the redundancy, the inheritance, the pension you've been meaning to sort. We tell you whether Select is the right fit, and roughly what scope and hours we'd need.

  2. 02

    Written scope & fee proposal

    Within 3 working days

A short, clear document - what we'll do, who'll do it, how long it will take, what it will cost, and what you'll receive at the end. Fixed hours, fixed fee, no surprises.

  3. 03

    The planning work

    Typically 2–6 weeks

We do the analysis, the modelling, the product research and (where relevant) the conversations with your solicitor, accountant or HR department. You're kept in the loop without being chased for information.

  4. 04

    Recommendations meeting

    60–90 min · in-person or video

We walk you through the findings, the options and our recommendation. Written report follows the same week - short enough to read, detailed enough to act on.

  5. 05

    Implementation (optional)

Variable · part of the agreed scope

If implementation is in scope - switching the mortgage, consolidating the pension, putting the protection policy in place - we handle the paperwork end-to-end. If you'd rather DIY from the recommendations, that's fine too.

What you'll come away with

What will you come away with? Four things you didn't have when you first picked up the phone.

  • An expert second opinion on the single financial decision that's been keeping you up at night
  • Modelling that shows what each option actually costs and produces - not what the brochure says
  • Product research across the whole market, not the limited panel of a bank or tied agency
  • A written recommendation you can take to your solicitor, accountant or partner - and act on with confidence

Common questions

The things people ask before a Select project.

Anything not covered here? The 30-minute discovery call is the right place to ask - bring the awkward ones too.

How much does Eolas Select cost?

It is time-based, and most projects land between €1,000 and €1,500 depending on complexity. After the free discovery call you get a written scope and fee proposal within three working days: what we will do, who will do it, how long it will take and what it will cost. The hourly rate is disclosed up front and the fee is capped at the agreed estimate, so the number on the proposal is the number on the invoice.

What kind of problem is Select for?

One decision that needs proper analysis rather than a whole-of-life plan: a redundancy package, an inheritance or gift, a mortgage switch or application, pensions from old jobs that need consolidating, a second opinion on an investment portfolio, or Fair Deal and older-age planning for a parent. If your question is broader than one area, Eolas Complete is usually the better fit, and we will say so on the call.

How long does a project take?

Typically two to six weeks from instruction to the recommendations meeting, depending on how much modelling and product research the question needs and how quickly third parties such as pension providers respond. The recommendations meeting is 60-90 minutes, in person or by video, and the written report follows the same week.

Do I have to implement the recommendations through you?

No. Implementation is optional and only appears in the scope if you want it. If it is included, we handle the paperwork end to end, whether that is switching the mortgage, consolidating the pensions or putting the protection policy in place. If you would rather act on the report yourself, or through your own accountant or solicitor, that is fine and costs nothing extra.

What happens when the project is finished?

Nothing, unless you want it to. Select is project-only: no ongoing fee, no auto-renewal, no retainer. Some clients come back with the next decision a year or two later; some move to Eolas Complete when they want the whole picture looked after; many simply act on the report and get on with life.

Project-shaped, professionally done

Tell us what's on your mind. We'll scope from there.

The discovery call with Brendan is 30 minutes, free, and you'll leave it knowing whether Select is the right fit, what scope it would take, and roughly what it would cost. He'll write that up before you commit to anything.
