Director, Eolas Money
Jim is married to Trish and they have two sons, Paddy & Jamie. In his spare time, Jim is a rugby referee & Limerick GAA supporter. Jim graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2002 and spent the following 7 years working within the Irish financial services industry.
In 2009, Jim and his colleague Brendan Reilly established Eolas Money in 2009 and since then they have preached the gospel of Financial Wellbeing across the board to their clients, whether through financial planning work with individuals and families, or through their financial wellbeing programmes delivered with their own employer and wellbeing partners. When Eolas Money talk about financial wellbeing, they explain that in their our view it’s not about wealth or prosperity, instead Financial Wellbeing is simply about being in a financial position where:
- You can fully meet your current financial obligations,
- You can feel secure in your ability to meet your expected future financial obligations,
- You have peace of mind when it comes to the “What Ifs” life throws at you, and
- You have the ability to make financial choices now and in the future to help you enjoy your life,
Jim is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a member of the Society of Financial Planners of Ireland (SFPI), the only organisation specifically formed to raise and promote financial planning standards within Ireland. Jim’s colleague Brendan is the current Chairman of the SFPI.
Equally however, Eolas Money emphasise that your Financial Wellbeing is simply one leg of a 3-legged stool, with the other 2 legs being the individuals Physical and Mental/Emotional Wellbeing. After all, you can have all the money you require but if you spend 4 hours a day commuting to and from work and therefore don’t get any exercise Monday-Friday, how good is that for your current or future Physical Wellbeing? Or if you work so hard that you only feature in photographs of the key milestones for your children, what does that do for your Mental Wellbeing?
Eolas Money has worked with employers throughout Ireland designing and delivering workplace financial wellbeing initiatives. Typically these involve delivering either onsite financial wellbeing seminars, online webinars, as well as 1:2:1 employee clinics, on topics such as:
